My life assignment

1. Main institution: Hey Kessy - Arts and crafts store in Esteban Abada, Katipunan

2. Story of my life:

    I´ve always had an interest in arts and crafts ever since I was young, but I guess I just didn´t     feel encouraged or unique with an artsy talent, so I really just made art whenever I could, like when in school, for a project or when I didn´t have anything to do at home. Baka tinamad lang ako mag-practice, but I wasn´t the same as a child who practiced all the time to go to college. Tingin ko bata pa naman ako noon and hindi naman ako preparado for college at that age.

High school naman was really tough because of the changing demand sa homework and workload. Mabigat ang mga textbooks. Hindi na kami tinuturuan anymore ng teachers sa malalaking projects and we together discovered newfound independence.

One personal project I really wanted for myself was drawing and painting, aside from writing. I just decided one day na if there was anything I would accomplish in my lifetime before I leave, I decided I would learn to draw. Nag-effort na ako mag-drawing. Nag-practice ako araw-araw and finally even developed my own techniques of drawing.

Nag-college naman ako later and I still did my hobby at home, although medyo nakakaligtaan ko siya paminsan-minsan due to also, heavy workload sa school. There were times when I questioned if my course were right for me, and I wondered, out of the blue sometimes, what if mag-Fine Arts ako??? 😔

In the end, I just finished my first course and finally even got a job later along the lines of my course subject. Life went on normally and medyo here I am now, with the same job in another company, just with me wondering if I can finally make a career with my hobby.

3. In alignment with Hey Kessy: I think nag-aalign naman buhay ko dun sa store na to, kasi I think it espoused the DIY ethos as well as a meeting-of-likeminded-people vibe. Gustong-gusto ko yon. I bought books by Abbey Sy and I also follow her YouTube channel, adoring the stationery and lettering tutorials. If I could ever make a business here, I have this idea of surprise lettering valentineś cards (with poetry on them), hidden in brown message envelopes where the buyers would pick a pack at random, at bahala yung other person if she/he picks up the other matching pairs. 

Anyway, I think I got invited to be an interior designer for the store noon, pero di ko nasagot kasi I didn´t have an interior design degree. Tsaka meiyou ako nin funds noon...Good points ko dun sa store is I really like all the products and would really love to work there. I guess I have to get on to studying na nga and make my portfolio, make more drawings, and finally get around to crafting again.

5. Plan your life:

- Practice drawing again. Or just make more drawings.

- Answer surveys on Toluna.

- Buy more art materials. Draw while studying.

- Study to get a Diploma in Graphic Design and Journalism.

- Practice writing and designing.

- Write and design for Contently. 

- Meet other friends and artists.

- Start a business at Hey Kessy.

- Study Design and Early Childhood Education at Miriam College.

- Work for WAGI and Kumon.

- Sign up for Teletech.

- Keep on going about my online job...
